Description
This one-bowl Amish Cinnamon Bread is a soft, moist quick bread loaded with a sweet cinnamon swirl and topped with melted butter for a deliciously rich finish. Perfect for breakfast, coffee breaks, or dessert, this classic cinnamon loaf is simple to prepare and incredibly comforting.
Ingredients
Bread Batter:
- ½ cup butter, softened (salted)
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup packed brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
Cinnamon Sugar Filling and Topping:
- ⅓ cup sugar
- 1½ teaspoons cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons melted butter

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with butter or oil.

In a large bowl with a hand mixer (or a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment), cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (2–3 minutes).

Add the egg, vanilla extract, and buttermilk, and mix until fully incorporated.

Sift in the flour and baking soda. Mix gently until it starts to come together, then fold with a spatula until just combined and no large lumps remain.

In a small bowl, stir together the cinnamon and sugar for the swirl.

Pour half the batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle with half of the cinnamon sugar and use a butter knife to gently swirl it into the batter.

Add the remaining batter on top, smooth it out, and sprinkle the rest of the cinnamon sugar over it. Swirl again lightly.

Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the top of the loaf.

Bake for 50–70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the loaf to cool in the pan for 20 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For best results, ensure your butter is softened before mixing.
Store wrapped at room temperature for 2–3 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
For longer storage, freeze the loaf wrapped in plastic and placed in a freezer-safe bag for up to 2 months.
